Hi, I’m Maria! Born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, I studied Greek Philology (BA) and later completed an MA in Applied Linguistics at Aristotle University, specializing in language learning and aquisition. That’s where I discovered my passion for sharing the Greek language and culture with the world.

For the past 12 years, I’ve taught in private schools across Greece, focusing on Greek language, literature, history, and Latin. Since 2016, I’ve specialized in teaching Greek as a second or foreign language to learners of all ages, worldwide.

In 2023, I created the Greek Out project—a space where language learning meets cultural immersion.

What do you say? Are you ready to geek out over Greek? Are you ready to Greek out?

Mary Bazioni

Greek Teacher

Hi! I’m Mary, originally from the mountain town of Karpenissi in Greece.
I studied Classical Philology with a focus on Linguistics at the University of Athens. I later earned a Master’s in General Linguistics from Radboud University in the Netherlands.

Curious by nature, I’ve explored fields like Instructional Design, Research, Editing, Journalism, and Event Coordination—but my passion for languages has always remained central. No matter where I was, I kept teaching Greek, both professionally and voluntarily.

I’ve also created online learning materials for Greek students, and I truly enjoy connecting with learners from around the world and supporting them in their language journey.

Nikos Koulopoulos

Greek Teacher

Hi, I’m Nikos Koulopoulos! I’m a PhD candidate at the University of Athens, specializing in Political Humour and Internet Memes—because laughing at politics sometimes makes more sense than crying. I studied Philology and Linguistics at the same university (reading is my thing), and I later trained to teach Greek as a foreign language.

Thanks to Erasmus+ funding, I taught Greek in a high school in Prague—an experience that showed me how rewarding teaching can be. Since then, I’ve taught Greek both in Greece and online, always curious about the patterns and contrasts between Greek and my students’ native languages. When I’m not planning lessons or overanalyzing grammar, you’ll probably find me dancing in my room to Marina Satti. So far, no complaints from students—or neighbors!
